Promoting innovation, mentorship, and funding, Sivarajah Ramanathan drives Tamil Nadu’s startup growth and transformative ventures.
Thiru. Sivarajah Ramanathan, Mission Director & CEO of StartupTN, drives Tamil Nadu’s startup ecosystem, fostering innovation and inclusivity. Founder of Nativelead, he champions regional growth through entrepreneurship, with a legacy of technological advancements and community-centric initiatives in tier II and III cities.
At the age of 22, Sivarajah started his entrepreneurial journey with friends in the IT industry by distributing computers in Madurai. His company introduced innovative technologies such as MNC PCs, fax machines, X.400-based email, the internet, mobile phones, and open-source software to Madurai by collaborating with various principal companies.
After a decade in technology trading, Sivarajah realized that trading was incompatible with his entrepreneurial spirit. Determined to create his own brand, he founded APR Bristol, a CRM product development company. The venture was later acquired by a large Chennai-based software house.
Sivarajah co-founded Winways, an open-source software company that developed a mid-market ERP solution now serving major Tamil Nadu temples, including Madurai Meenakshi, Sri Rangam, Palani, and Masaniyamman, after pivoting from an online printing service.
Parallelly, he initiated the first open-source software training organization in South Tamil Nadu, fostering a skilled workforce for emerging technologies in the region.
At the age of 40, Sivarajah began introspecting on the challenges faced by first-generation entrepreneurs in non-metro regions like Madurai. This reflection, coupled with mentorship from K.S. Bharath, led him to discover his passion for societal impact. He founded Nativelead Foundation in Madurai to address these challenges.
Nativelead Foundation and its investing arm, Native Angels Network (NAN), foster entrepreneurial success in non-metro regions. Starting in Madurai, it expanded to Coimbatore, Trichy, and planned chapters in Erode, Salem, Vellore, Tirunelveli, and Tuticorin by 2016.
Currently, Sivarajah serves as the Mission Director and CEO of StartupTN, driving entrepreneurship across Tamil Nadu. He also dedicates himself to Nativelead Foundation and contributes as a Director at Winways, fostering ecosystems that empower non-metro entrepreneurs.
